Background:
Pat had struggled to maintain her weight for most of her life. Like most of us familiar with this "battle", Pat had been on all the latest diets, attended slimming clubs and even taken slimming pills. Although she sometimes enjoyed short term success, the weight lost gradually started to creep back on again.
By July 2004 Pat was stuck in a yo-yo dieting rut when a solution to her problem presented itself whilst she was at the dentists!
"My weight started to increase steadily after I had an operation when I was 38. I had put on about 1 stone a year before starting the Y's Weight® Programme in July 2004. At that time I wanted to lose about 5 stone in total. I had tried various diet clubs, and slimming pills. I always had some success, and then put the weight back on.
As well as losing weight to improve my health, I wanted to get fitter, and increase my self- confidence. Having recently retired, I wanted to focus on a 'New Me'. Although I enjoyed exercise, I felt too self-conscious to join a gym, start swimming or cycling.
Whilst visiting my local dentist I noticed a poster advertising the Y's Weight® Programme and decided to give them a call"

After Pat called Y's Weight® to discuss the programme, she was sent some useful information and invited along for a free assessment to see if the programme would be suitable for her.
Pat attended 4 one-to-one coaching sessions with a Weight Management Consultant
"When we talked about my diet with my Y's Weight Consultant,
it became clear that my biggest difficulty was in eating too many
refined carbohydrates, cakes, cereals, sandwiches and crisps,
as well as cheese. Although I liked vegetables and salads, I was
a bit of 'lazy cook'.
By my second session, I had re-organised my eating pattern, eating earlier and following a Low-GI eating plan. The main difference was that I was feeling more relaxed and less depressed about my weight.
By my third session eight weeks later, I had lost 5 Kg (11lbs), 8cms and reduced my body fat percentage. And that was without feeling that I was on a diet at all. I had no cravings and if I wanted a biscuit I would have one and one only, and not feel guilty about it. I had also started to go to the gym 3 or 4 times per week having got rid of my concerns about how I looked"
Progress so far:
After successfully completing her Y's Weight® sessions, Pat now feels confident and determined that she will continue to lose weight with out feeling like she is struggling with a diet.
"Now a year on, I have lost a total of 2 stone, I have been on holiday and resisted the urge to over-eat and have stuck to a healthy eating plan. This has been a total lifestyle change for me and has certainly increased my self-confidence.
This has been the longest period I have kept weight off and I feel confident that I will go on to lose the remaining 3 stone in a healthy manner.
